Good CPU coller Jun 07, 2009 I love it, it is not designed for the motherboard I had but I made some modification to the GPU cooling unit and was able to fit it in. Works like a charm.
Also if you are in the market for the CPU cooler make sure you do your research and based on personal experience I recommend screw based CPU coolers over push clasp. The concept behind a push clasp cooler is awesome however it can be a pain to fit on a motherboard.
May be a great cooler... Jun 03, 2009 ....but not for most AM2 boards, as it's too close to the RAM slots.
And the directions are cryptic on their best days.

Functional and Good Looking CPU Fan at a Good Price Apr 15, 2009 Overall a very good and quiet fan at a decent price; the 3 red led lights also add to the eye candy - especially if you have a shiny black metallic case. Performance wise, this fan keeps my dual core AMD 3.2 ghz Black Edition running at about 89 - 95 degree F (aprrox. 31-36 degree C). But please remember that other conditions - such as case material and size - will also determine how cool your whole PC will run.
There are two important aspects to take into consideration if you are looking to buy this fan:
1) As other reviewers pointed out, this fan is big - or rather wide. However, it is definitely not 7 inches across as another reviewer stated (unless there is another Ruby Orb version that I do not know about). Amazon description is right on in this case; I measured mine and the dimension is exactly as listed: 5.5 x 5.5 x 2.9 inches (5-1/2 inches outside diameter, and almost 3 inches tall).
Still, this is a relatively big fan where its outer edge will likely hang out OVER two out of the usual four memory slots (depending on your MOBO design); thus limits the clearance of your memory slots. To be more precise, if you plan on using memories stick with fancy comb-shaped heat sinks that stick out, it probably will NOT fit under the edge of this fan.
So, it is a good idea to take some kind of ruler and measure out 2-3/4 inch from the center of your CPU slot to determine if you have enough room to play with the memory slots, and the power supply clearance.
2) This fan is NOT made out of copper; it is made out of aluminum. Pro: it is more sturdy than copper. Con: not as good as copper in heat transfer. Therefore, If you a sticker for copper fan, you may want to consider other fan options. However, it works fine for me.
Edit: Other reviewers brought this up, and I will also reiterate that it may require some effort to attach this fan onto the CPU. You do have to push down on the fan rather hard with one hand while turning the screw in with the other hand.
Great fan, highly recommended! Dec 12, 2008 This fan is well worth the money. It's so quiet, half of the time I can't even tell if it's on. Combined with a quiet case fan and power supply, I have pushed the power button on my computer to turn it on, and accidently turned it off because I didn't realize it was already on!
The one downside is that this fan is HARD to get on. When reviews on websites say you really need to push, well, push. I took their advice, couldn't get it, pulled the thing apart, and then realized I wasn't pushing hard enough. It's a great fan, love it, and I'll definitely be looking at getting this fan (or a similar one) for my next build!
@ $40 it's well worth the price!
