 Good HTPC case Mar 12, 2010
The case is solidly built. It can take many drives, which I needed for my media server. It looks good, and it fits in my stack well.
Installing the DVD/BD drives can be tricky. The opening in the case for the drawer may not be big enough for your drive, and some trimming may be needed. Only attach the metal cover when you are satisfied with the fit.
I don't understand why decent looking HTPC cases need to cost so much more than regular cases, when you consider what they are, but this one is a good value compared to others.
Make sure you get a quiet power supply or you will be hearing the fan a lot.

Great Pc case with lots of space and excellent cooling.
Good lay-out for hard drive cooling.
Horizontal lay-out is more versatile as things can be put on top of it versus a vertical case which normally goes under the desk with nothing on top.
One of the better cases I purchased and rivals the Lian-Li cases.

Great HTPC Case Nov 16, 2009
This case looks great and is very sturdy. It's nice that the power supply mounts at the PCI Express slot end of the motherboard instead of the traditional ATX case placement near the "top" of the board. This is good for cooling if your power supply has a fan mounted on the bottom of it, because it will pull heat from the video card and send it out of the case. This case also provides mounting for 80mm fans in from of the hard drive bays which bring air in from the bottom of the front panel. (Be warned though if you have a very large video card the middle drive bay will most likely become useless knocking the drive capacity down to 3 HDDs). Great case overall!
EDIT: The blue power and HDD lights on the front of the case are bright.. I used a very small piece of clear tape and a couple "dots" of black sharpie marker on the tape to darken them so they don't draw attention during dark movie viewing.

Tengo ya cierto tiempo buscando un case de este tipo horizontal (desktop) y por casualidad encontré esta marca Silver Stone que desde que abrí la caja no he dejado de llevarme gratas sorpresas, un case con excelente acabado, todo bien hecho y con buen gusto, aproveche los tres espacios internos e instale los ventiladores obteniendo muy buenos resultados, el único contra es que todo queda un poco justo (pero como uno ensambla una sola vez, vale la pena) el espacio en el escritorio queda con un desktop muy serio y elegante. Estoy muy complacido con el producto y estoy seguro que quien lo compre quedara igual. ¡Buena suerte!

I have some time searching for a case such horizontal (desktop) and by chance I found this brand Silver Stone since I opened the box I have not failed to bring pleasant surprises, a case with excellent finishing, well done all and good taste, use the internal spaces and install three fans getting very good results, it is only against that everything is just a bit (but as a once assembled, it's worth) space on the desktop is a very serious and elegant desktop . I'm very pleased with the product and I am sure that whoever buys it would be like. Good luck!

Background you can skip
Late last year my trusty HP Z565 HTPC passed away. It was burning up and lack of cooling finally made it croak. Since it wan no longer being manufactured I decided to salvage what parts I could and build a new one myself. I also found that the HP case was not well suited for a transplant so I needed a new housing. After much research, I settled for this one: affordable, good ratings across the web and enough room to build a serious HTPC.
Pros:
- The case was built with cooling in mind! Many of the cases, like my HP, overheat as HTPC room is tight. This one? COOOOOOL, linke a spring breeze.
- QUIET. It's very quiet. The housing and fans are well picked and none of the turbines-kinking-in sound while I watch a movie. Do not underestimate that! Nothing worse than loud fans kicking in the middle of a movie. The 80MM fans runs quiet and I have not needed to add any other fans. I use this with my AMD 940 deneb and works great, idling at about 28c and maxing at about 41c under stained use.
- Plenty of rear panel connections so you do not have to use the front panel: who wants USB and other cables sticking out of the front in a clean looking unit.
- DESIGN. This thing is very sleek and fits right into a media center unit. No nonsense design and the fact that there is no top vent to block you can actually stack other equipment on it as I did, without cooking any electronics.
- SPACE. HTPC housings are always tight but I could fit in my ASUS EAH3450 HDMI card and all other items without getting stuck. This case has enough room in all dimensions without looking like a flipped over tower case.
- LIGHT. Important: no lights that can light up your whole dark theater room like some other brands (Athenatech, for instance). Also not to be underestimated.
Cons
- None that I have found just yet. So I had to give it 5 stars.
