Awesome silent cooler.... Dec 27, 2009 I put it in the antec nsk2480 case... [...].
I didnt even install the fan with the scythe.. instead relied on the side fans on antec... and still it keeps the temperature of my athlon64 4200+ well below 30c.... the system is up almost 24 x 7 for more than an year .. still no issue.. no hang up or any issue... i can barely any sound from my htpc...
great product... highly recommended...
Does the job - not much "mini" about it though! Apr 14, 2009 First thing's first - this sucker is huge. I know that the original version is even huger, but there's nothing mini about this thing: it's about twice as big as the stock HSF.
That said, it does (barely) fit in my micro ATX case. I've got an Antec Fusion 430, and this baby just manages to squeeze in. Note, though, that this is a bit bigger than many other Micro ATX cases, so I'd warn you to measure twice before buying this thing - there's no guarantee it's going to fit what you've got.
I got this cooler to help keep noise to a minimum on my media PC that lives in my living room. I've got a fairly hefty CPU in this little box (Phenom II X4 920), so I figured a fairly hefty cooler was in order.
The NINJA mini does the trick admirably. In my case, since the Antec's exhaust fans sit right beside the CPU, I was able to use the mini without even installing the provided fan - and I'm still able to leave the Antec case fans set to low. It's not silent, but it's pretty darn close.
Now the highest temperature I've seen on my CPU with this setup is after running folding@home on all 4 cores overnight, when it hit 61 degrees C. That seems a bit on the toasty side, and it is, but that's more load than this system is ever likely to see in daily operation. Most of the time, it's below 35C.
If you actually run this thing with the fan? Well, I'd guess you could run quite cool indeed.
I did find installation a bit of a chore. First, you have to screw in the proper mounting kit for your CPU. Not a big deal, but still a bit more work than buying something specifically for your chip. Unfortunately, with the default configuration, I just could not get this thing to mount no matter how much pressure I applied and blood I drew. I had to switch the clips to reduce the pressure on the CPU, which resulted in a slightly looser fit than I'd hope for.
This thing is also HUGE (did I mention that already?), which means you have to be really careful not to knock around other components when you're installing it.
Anyway - great product, just beware of the size concerns, and be ready for a tight installation.
Mini Ninja does the job!! Mar 19, 2009 I bought the mini ninja heatsink and fan for my AM3 mobo. The main reason was that my old heatsink and fan didn't keep my computer cool enough, and the fan (volcano 5) was extremely loud. Enter the Scythe mini ninja. Not only does it keep everything cool (the heatsink is cool to the touch while the computer is running!), but the fan is really quiet. It's almost inaudible. I hightly recommend this product. The only drawback is the size of the heatsink. You need to have a mid-size tower to house this beast. I had to move around some peripherals, but I found a slot for everything and am very happy with this product.

A little toy for my computer Feb 28, 2008 Really was obtained like a joke, but when it works really impressed me. an excellent CPU cooler, and if you use a 120 mm fan, you do not hear the whisper, I use it without the case fan, only the exhaust fan in the power unit, and it mantains the temperature Low even in the case. I am very happy with my Mini CPU Cooler, and Amazon provides me in a fast way.
