Perfect with a few simple modifications... Nov 05, 2009
This little lap desk is perfect with just a few little modifications. Because I had to make these modifications myself, it only gets 4 stars from me. I have a Toshiba T135-S1310, Toshiba Satellite T135-S1310WH TruBrite 13.3-Inch Ultrathin Black/White Laptop - 9 Hours 22 Minutes of Battery Life (Windows 7 Home Premium), a wonderful little ultra portable. The battery protrudes ever so slightly from the back, just a little bit, just enough that if you take the third rubber foot that comes with this desk and position it just beneath where the battery sticks out, the battery acts like a lip to hold the laptop in place when the desk is tilted. I used the other two as they were intended, to lift the back of the laptop slightly. This configuration keeps the laptop in place and keeps it raised to a comfortable typing level. I used small screws to screw the rubber feet into place once I found the perfect position for them and now, wow, perfect portable lap shield. I love it. But I would love it more if the thing came with self starting screws to attach the feet and I didn't have to supply them myself. Having the feet customizable to the individual is wonderful, the glue on the back of them not so much.
Another trick I found, when you take the little rubber feet off the paper, there's some rubber left, a strip with some holes in it where the feet were. If you take this strip and put it near the bottom of the desk, it keeps your laptop from sliding side to side with the configuration of the rubber feet that I mentioned above.

My Dell Inspiron 6000 hangs over the edge of the Lapinator. I don't find that it really absorbs the heat very well because I can still feel the heat on my lap when using the Lapinator. It would probably be best to use it on a desk and use the bumpers to raise it up so air can pass under it. But I could do the same thing using other items that I already have in my house, it would not be hard to rig something up.

Used Lapinators for a few years but had to buy a new one to accomodate widescreen notebook. Even though the notbook has four rubber "legs", the computer still slips on the lapinator.
Yes, the order included three round rubber bumpers to glue on top of Lapinator, but this doesn't help as the bottom of the notebook still slips.
The wide Lapinators are simply too slippery; knowing that the company included the rubber bumpers.
Poor design of a product I previously endorsed.

Very pleased with the Lapinator product. The Thinsulate insulation really does prevent the heat from the laptop from reaching the lap or legs. The cushions on the bottom make it comfortable. Pleased with the speed and response from the company (Lapinator).
