Keeps ME cool Oct 19, 2009
Keeps my lap cool. I am a big gamer, and I used this extensively for about a year (3-6 hours at a time). After about 8 months or so, the top started to wrinkle, and my laptop was getting hotter when I used it with the lapinator. The materials are kind of cheap-feeling/looking, but this product does the job. I bought it with the mousitizer attachment. It definitely let me play World of Warcraft on a bed in comfort! The edging for the mousitizer prevents my mouse from slipping off when I get up.

The Lapinator performs as advertised, but there's not much to it. This product could be sold for $10.00 and the manufacturer still would have made a tidy profit. When you receive this thing, you'll realize you could easily create the same product from odds and ends found around the house. I recommend looking for something cheaper on the market. I'm absolutely sure another company could manufacture this same product and undercut the price of the Lapinator.

We bought a bottom-venting HP laptop that puts off an amazing amount of heat. After a little research, we decided to try a Lapinator. It does exactly what it is supposed to do -- it keeps the laptop and our laps much cooler. The padding on the bottom works well, too, and doesn't cause a sweaty mess. The fact that it works passively (no fan) is a definite plus.

The Lapinator is a great Laptop Cooler especially for my HP-G70t. It handles this 17" laptop just great and is light as a feather. I am going to order a 15" version also.

I have been using the Lapinator Plus for about a year now, and it's great! I use it every day.
I use it:
Sitting on the couch with my feet on the floor
Sitting on the couch with my feet up on the coffee table
Reclining sideways on the couch with my legs outstretched
Reclining sideways on the couch with my knees up, and the Lapinator Plus leaning up against my legs (this requires the laptop screen to be pushed back at an angle, but works great)
It's comfortable in all of these situations.
Do I feel some heat through the Lapinator Plus?
Yes, it is slightly warm on my legs after a while. However, my laptop is HUGE, and runs hot. It's a Dell Inspiron E1705 with a 17 inch widescreen. It's a fabulous laptop, but it is very much a desktop replacement. It is heavy and powerful.
Can I use a mouse on the Lapinator Plus surface next to my laptop?
No way, but that's because my laptop is huge. There's about an inch and a half on either side, and about an inch at the front when the laptop is balanced on the rubber bumpers. I usually mouse on the couch next to me with an optical mouse (my next purchase will be a wireless mouse, but it's fine to use a wired USB mouse, too). Or I pull the coffee table up next to me (If I'm sitting sideways on the couch) and mouse on the table.
Are the rubber bumpers important?
Yes, absolutely. Be sure to match the rubber bumpers to the rubber feet on your laptop when you put them in place. It provides a slight, unnoticeable tilt. Without these bumpers in place, a laptop that runs hot like mine will warp the laminate/plastic surface of the Lapinator Plus after a while. It goes right back into place when it cools down, but the more important point is that it's bad for your laptop not to provide some air circulation. The rubber bumpers are the perfect solution, so I highly recommend using them. I love that they are not already attached, so you can match them up with your laptop's feet. It helps a lot.
How long do I use my laptop on the Lapinator Plus each day?
At least 8 hours. I work from home as a Technical Writer. I run my machine hard, and have several programs open at all times. I often finish working, and then spend several additional hours gaming. When I need to get up, I just move the Lapinator Plus off my lap and onto the couch or table, and come back.
It's very easy, and very comfortable for long stretches. I can have it on my lap whether I'm wearing shorts, long pants, a skirt... it doesn't matter.
