I purchased this laptop 10 months ago and even though it's the same model number I can see there is now 3 GB or ram vs. 2 GB, other than that the specs are the same. One thing not mentioned in the product information is the fingerprint login. In the lower right hand corner of the computer you'll see a small square. That is where it scans your fingerprint to log you on to the computer and it even stores your passwords for websites. Since I ordered my laptop directly from HP and paid for the fingerprint scanner upgrade, and this product description does not mention this feature, I would think it's possible the vendor has the incorrect picture shown.

The screen is big and beautiful, and has 3 different power settings including energy saver, balanced, and full power. I use it on energy saver 100% of the time and I'm very happy with the quality.

The hard drive is overkill for me. I am only using about 35% of it, but it's nice to know I won't outgrow it anytime soon. My old desktop had an 80 GB hard drive that I filled up 95% and it kept crashing until I pulled a bunch of files off of it and deleted old programs.

The built-in web came is nice, although I've only used it a couple of times, but if you don't want to pay for separate web cam this will save you some money.

The touch pad is adequate, although I prefer the matte touch pads on the more recent models. My husband has an HP Pavilion laptop that is a bit newer than mine and his fingerprint scanner is located on the outside bottom of the screen, and his touch pad is a bit nicer. The fingerprint scanner sometimes gets touched by my arm or hand inadvertently causing me to have to rescan my finger before proceeding. This happens perhaps once a day.

If you're a business traveler, this is probably not a good choice for you because it's really heavy, but if you're looking to replace your home computer with a laptop this is a good choice.

Although this laptop does not run as hot as other laptops I've had in the past, I would still recommend using a cooling pad. I use the Antec USB-Powered Notebook Cooler. Even though it's far smaller than the bottom of this laptop it manages to keep the computer completely cold on the bottom and does not need to be plugged into a wall outlet. It's powered by your USB port on the laptop, and has a piggyback USB cord, so you don't lose any of your 4 usb jacks.

The 5 in 1 media reader is really nice. It's a small and discrete all in one slot.

The Windows Vista Home Premium version installed on this laptop is the 32 bit version, in case that matters to you.
