Great Notebook to carry around! Jul 08, 2008 I didn't buy this from Amazon (got directly from HP). Before this I was exclusively using Dell for my needs after a bad experience with an HP pavilion desktop 10 years ago. But now decided to try HP after I got burned with a Dell E1505 inspiron notebook recently. After 6 months of use, I can definitely say this is a great product (and of course, it is not perfect - I am very choosy).
Pros:
1. Right size and weight to carry around
2. Great keyboard (this is what drove me away from Dell - the new Dell notebooks have serious issue with their keyboards; I touch type at the rate of around 70 words/pm and I get lot of repeated keys in Dell; HP keyboard is great! I like this)
3. Great display and resolution
4. good wireless (Intel wireless is the best compared to the broadcom wireless you find in some dell notebooks)
5. webcam is also great and easy to turn on/off.
Cons:
1. Battery life (can be improved; HP take note!)
2. Heat (after an hour of use, it does get hot but still comparable to most Dells of this size).
3. the imprint finish is a sucker for dirt and finger prints; has to be cleaned almost every day - otherwise looks very dirty
4. HP's support can be improved (at least please copy Dell's support site - since HP sells this with different numbers - more than 40 or 50 variations of dv2700+, it is so hard to get to support page for the model you have; it is really ridiculous to search for driver updates etc navigating through the HP web site).Just for this reason alone, I would like to reduce the rating to 4 stars from 5 stars ( and I did).
Overall, this is a great notebook to have!
UPDATE: After six months; If I can, I will change this review to 1 star.
The cable from the power supply to the notebook, got frayed within 2 months in several places and I had to protect them by wrapping electrical tape (worried about shorting; 12v won't give shocks!). I called up HP customer service, and they agreed to send a replacement. BUT, they sent a wrong adapter after 20 days! (turns out that the serial number I have on the notebook when entered into their database shows DV2500T notebook instead of DV2700T - I can't believe it is HP which is doing this!). After calling them again, I will be getting my second adapter in a day or two now (not sure if this is going to be the correct one!). This cable was such a poor quality, that HP should have recalled this part long time ago. Also it takes one month to replace a power adapter on a current model of notebook they are selling on their web site? Give me a break..
I expected a lot from HP, and very disappointed..

It is good computer at all but.. Dec 25, 2007 It is a little different after received this item because of it has not been webcam built in. Actually the order preview has shown with the webcam built-in. So I purchased it but when I received that item that was very disappointed for me. Even though I informed to the seller, they did not take any action at all.
Except this webcam cases, every thing is good.
