Good at first but fan is going... Sep 23, 2009 This power supply is slightly cheaper than other brands but I can by a 380W power supply for $35. As they say, you get what you pay for...
I had to replace the power supply on my HP PC. It was easy to install and worked... Until recently, this week, I noticed that one of the fans in my HP sounded like the bearings were going... Well I took the cover off, and put my ear up to the CPU fan, processor fan and noticed that the fan in the power supply was making the noise. I had the power supply for 3 months and the fan is going. I probably can not get my money back and it is not worth it to take the power supply apart to replace the fan (since something else may decide to break on it)... (I did replace a power supply fan on a previous NEC PC that I owned however...)I am going to be buying a better power supply...
I know that electronic parts use cheap parts and the original power supply in my HP lasted 2.75 years. In my Dell desktop, it was around 2 years (and in one of my work places, the IT was replacing a lot of power supplies) In the old days, you did not have to replace power supplies as you do today. But, a power supply should not be having problems at the 3 month time period...
Power supply worked and mounted easily Jul 29, 2009 Power supply worked and mounted easily, it arrived with the free shipping in four days. Had all the right connectors to support both IDE and SATA drives. Not much more to say about a power supply, ask me again in two years.
The supply it replaced, a 380W from another vendor lasted only about a year and died while it was in standby mode.
Rare 300W in micro Oct 29, 2008 Works as advertised, and it's relatively quiet. The only issue I had was that the main cable was a little on the short side. Almost didn't get it to the socket on the motherboard.
Works Aug 09, 2007 I have an HTPC case that takes a microATX power supply. The original died and I needed a replacement. The Coolmax unit fits nicely in the case and does the job. Only two of the four screw holes lined up but I'm not sure if the locations are standard. Also, after about 5 minutes the heat sensitive fan was fast enough to be noticable. Depending on your tolerance for such noise, you may need to modify the fan to reduce this noise. I'm not saying it's loud, it is just loud for a living-room setting (after 5 minutes!).
micro ATX power supply May 12, 2007 The power supply was exactly what I needed for my micro case. I put it in and it worked perfectly and has not given me any problems what so ever. It had good documentation in the box too.
