Not quiet at all Oct 05, 2009 I used this case to build a PC that would be used mainly in my home recording studio, along with processing of HD video clips. Thus the #1 requirement is for a quiet PC with decent power.
PROs: the case is of good size, the power supply is quiet, the cushions for mounting the internal 3.5" drives are neat.
CONs: the user's guide sucks, the included chassis fan is very noise even at low setting.
I was able to install an ASRock X58 Extreme motherboard, an Intel i7 920 CPU, and a Scythe Mugen 2 CPU fan, along with 3 DDR3 just fine in this case. The noise of the included rear chassis fan is agonizing. The fan has 3 settings, and even as I used the lowest setting, it was still so noisy that it made me wonder why Antec would include such a noisy fan in a "quiet" case. I ended up replacing the Antec fan with a Scythe Gentle Typhoon 1150rpm and installed a second Scythe fan behind the front panel. The volume of air moved by the original Antec fan is much higher than the Scythe fan, but I compensated for the loss with having 2 Scythe fans and ended up with a whisper-quiet PC.
I actually got greedy and overclocked the CPU from 2.6MHz to 3.4MHz. The CPU temperature would jump from a 42C-idle to 49C in moderate use, on a 80-F day.
It would have been nicer if Antec added some sound insulation foam inside the case to make it even more quiet. I ended up putting 2 sound-proof panels, one at 12" behind the rear, the other next to the side of the case (on the outside) to absorb some noise and that helps even more.
Beside that, I'm happy enough with this case.
Easy to assemble Sep 01, 2009 Easy to assemble for beginner DIY people like me.
The fans are simple ones with a 3 level switch.
Easy to setup, but wasting the sophisticated silent/power saving feature built-in motherboard.
A Quiet Thing, It Is... Aug 16, 2009 I just purchased an i7 920 processor and I decided that I would splurge a little on the case and purchase one from the Sonata line. I eventually decided on this one over the Sonata Designer version, although the aesthetics on both are appealing. It seemed a monster when I pulled it out of the box at first, this black beauty of computer cases, but although I call it a monster, it's large size was necessary for my motherboard and I actually found that it was the perfect size to give plenty of room for all of my cables. The bays were uniquely arranged so that the 'sliders' that allow your drives to snap into place are expertly attached to the back of them. Although this took a moment to figure out (I am more of a do-it-yourself, who needs directions? sort of person) it was a rather neat surprise. Many computer cases require you to struggle with sliding the side out in such a way that you would swear it was an experiment in human tolerance, but this case was extremely easy. Additionally, the case was easy to open in the first place. The most impressive part to this case, however, is the uniquely quiet design. My case provides such a level of quiet to my computer that I almost never know that it's on. Often it requires a few clicks of the mouse for me to know if my computer is on or off.
I'll conclude my review in saying that I highly recommend this case for beginners and pros alike. Whether you require such a large case or not, get it. The expandability it offers is excellent, the ease of use is a breath of fresh air, and the amazing quiet of the case will impress you.
Awesome Case May 20, 2009 Looks like a computer, not a space ship, yet still has all the features a performance modder wants. I installed a second fan in the front and it's still quiet. One thing though, the fan in the rear that came with it is a two wire powered from the power supply... Not a mobo controlled/controllable fan. So I replaced it as well so the mobo would stop posting fan failure and so it could vary the speed according to load. Other than that it's awesome, love the lockable door over the drives and power button (even though I don't lock) and I love the quick latch to open the case which is also lockable. I always leave the case unscrewed for easy access but this one if you do that you still have a latch to keep it together tight!

Great Eye Candy, Just Wish It Were Bigger! Mar 05, 2009 I have to admit that I bought this case because it was suggested to me by a "build your own computer" website. When it arrived, I was in love. However, since I have now decided to go with an I7 chip set, it will require more than simply the generic CPU heatsink. The bottom line is that the case may not be wide enough at 8.1". Other than that, I have no problems with it at all. Antec does it again!
